HEAT PUMPS

Choose the heat-pump architecture that suits the building.

“Heat pump” is not one product. Amcore compares air-to-air and air-to-water routes based on comfort, hot-water demand, existing emitters, zoning, heat loss and the practical realities of the site.

Air-to-air or air-to-water?

Both move heat using electricity, but they serve buildings differently. The correct answer depends on whether you need domestic hot water, how the building is zoned, and how much of the existing heating distribution you intend to retain.

Air-to-air

Fast zoned heating plus cooling, delivered directly to occupied spaces.

Air-to-water

Space heating and hot water through a wet system, subject to building suitability.

Hybrid thinking

Some buildings benefit from different solutions in different zones or phases.

Heat-loss first

Capacity and emitter decisions should follow a proper understanding of building demand.

LOW-CARBON PATHWAY

Plan the whole system, not the outdoor unit.

Controls, flow temperatures, emitters, insulation, electrical capacity and user behaviour all affect performance. Solar and storage may also change how electricity is sourced and timed.

Need heating and cooling?

Air-to-air may be the overlooked option—especially where zoning and summer comfort matter.
